Why Coaching Works: The Neuroscience of Transformation

Future-Ready Your Coaching Practice:
A Series for Startups and Seasoned Pros
Why Coaching Works: The Neuroscience of Transformation
Presenter: Ursula Pottinga, CPCC, PCC, and Certified Neurotransformational Coach

Facilitator: Carmela O’Flaherty, PCC

In this lively, interactive workshop that includes demonstration and peer work, we will explore the neuroscience rationale WHY coaching works and address three main challenges that our clients want to address (and what sometimes keeps them stuck): stress, making changes, and the balance between being and doing.
- Understand the science of stress: How to manage stress levels and why it’s important.
- Dive into the connection of neuroplasticity, change and coaching: Why change is hard and uncomfortable and how to make these changes “stick.”
- Explore the two neural networks that help us understand the tuck and pull of “being and doing” and how to balance these better.
We and our clients have this powerful piece of equipment in our heads and getting a bit of a User’s Manual can help us understand why coaching works. And when we provide a scientifically-based rationale, clients listen and engage more readily.
When clients engage, we can go further and deeper with the coaching, thus impacting both the client and their organizations more profoundly.
