Facilitator:
Dana Lynn Bernstein, MCC

What happens when clients pause and ask themselves, "What would a wise person do?" This session demonstrates how considering the client’s experience from the lens of a wise person can help uncover patterns of behavior and decide what might be most useful. Using real coaching examples and insights from Laser-Focused Coaching, participants will gain practical ways to invite clients—and themselves—to reframe perspectives and generate ideas on how they can move forward with greater clarity and wisdom.

The more a coach understands how humans operate, the better the coaching. Excerpts from the book will be shared and discussed.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, coaches will be able to:
  • Consider the client’s experience as a wise person when deciding what might be most useful.
  • Develop or enhance an ongoing reflective practice to enhance one’s coaching.
  • Work with the client to integrate new awareness, insight, and learning into their worldview and behaviors.
  • Support the client in identifying potential results or learning from identified action steps as a wise person.

Takeaways:
Participants will leave with:
  • Reinforced knowledge on crafting succinct, open-ended questions that stimulate new client insights
  • Clearer understanding of the factors that influence current and future patterns of human behaviors
  • Greater awareness of how to create and allows space for silence, pause, or reflection and how this space enables wiser responses
  • Practical insights from Laser-Focused Coaching that help shift conversations from problem-solving to facilitation of deeper client insight and learning
